Our tale begins on a sun-drenched morning in Cartagena, where I was celebrating my birthday with my brother and friends. As fate would have it, during a leisurely stroll towards the historic walled city, my eyes caught a glimpse of Katherine across the street. Even though she was in her running clothes, she looked absolutely stunning. I knew that I would regret not saying hello.

Armed with my modest Spanish, I walked across the street and approached her. "Hola guapa (Hi beautiful)," I said in my broken spanish. The photo on the left is the exact spot where I first approached her. We continued our conversation as I walked her back to her hotel, where we exchanged WhatsApp numbers.

That afternoon, I invited Katherine and her friend to join us for lunch. Despite my limited Spanish, our time was filled with laughter and smiles. We later went to a rooftop bar and another restaurant for dinner. We parted ways that evening, thinking it was just a fleeting connection.

As fate would have it, that was not the end. We continued to chat on WhatsApp, and I visited her in Bogota a few weeks later. There we explored the city together, and even attended a Karol G concert. A few months later, we took a memorable summer vacation through Dominican Republic, Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil.

The following year, I decided to move to Bogota to be closer to Kat. Every other month I would shuttle between Colombia and Puerto Rico. As each day passed, my certainty grew: Katherine was the one I wanted to spend my life with.

So, on November 10, 2023, under the Cartagena sky where our paths first crossed, surrounded by her loving family, I asked Katherine to "cásate conmigo". Since Cartagena is such a meaningful city to both of us, we invite you all to celebrate with us here on April 30, 2024, the two year anniversary of the day we met.
